Installing the Star SP200 receipt printer (WinXP)

STAR RECEIPT PRINTER SETUP FOR WINDOWS XP

·        Turn the printer upside down and remove the small cover next to the printer cable port. It's a beige panel. You will see a small set of switches.

·        Forthe SP200 printer, move switch #2 in the opposite direction of all the others. For the SP300 move switch #3. Close the cover and turn the printer right side up.  (SP500 no changes necessary)

·        Connect one end of the printer cable to the computer and the other end to the receipt printer. Load the paper and printer ribbon. Plug in the power cord of the printer and turn it on.

·        Click START, Control Panel, Printers and faxes. Double click Add Printer.

·        Click NEXT to start the printer installation wizard.

·        Select LOCAL printer, remove the check mark from 'Automatically Detect'. Click NEXT

·        Under 'Use the following port' select 'LPT1:' from the dropdown list. Click NEXT.

·        Click 'Have Disk'. Click 'BROWSE'. Open C:\, QuikCheK, Support, Receipt, Starreceipt, Sp200, Win2k. You should see an SP200.inf file. Select that file and click 'Open'. Click OK.

·        Select the first printer from the list Star SP212 (TearBar). Click Next.

·        Do you want to use this printer as the default printer? Select NO and click Next.

·        Choose Share Name. Enter a name like Receipt printer or whatever you like.

·        For Location, enter the computer this is connected to Ex: Frontdesk. You can leave comment blank if you like. Click Next.

·        Do you want to print a test page? Select Yes. Click Next. Click Finish.

·        Click Continue Anyway.

·        If your computer asks for a RASDD.DLL file, click the dropdown arrow at the bottom and choose C:\QuikCheK\Support\Receipt\Starreceipt\etc.... Click OK. Your test page should come out fine.

·        Go into QuikCheK SetUp.

·        Open WORKSTATION, Select MMGT HARDWARE.

·        Select the Star receipt printer driver from the receipt printer pull-down list.

·        Make sure the CASH DRAWER PRESENT box is checked if there is a cash drawer connected. The cash drawer connects to the printer. The connection is next to the printer cable on the bottom of the printer. There is a small black panel that needs to be removed (if you break it don't worry). Once it's removed the cash drawer connector will fit into that port.

·          The receipt printer driver is now installed.  Insert a roll of paper, set to ON-LINE and the printer is ready to be used.  Note that the message that prints on the receipt can be changed in QuikCheK SetUp, under System, MMgmt Misc.

If you do not have the printer drivers on your computer, go to Coral Springs Software website, Healthclubsoftware.net, click Tech Support at the top, click Downloads on the left, then download the file for Receipt printer drivers for XP. Save it to your desktop. Double click the file you saved on your desktop, click Unzip. The necessary files will be unzipped to your computer. Close the window. Follow the installation instructions but you will need to browse to C:\star instead of C:\QuikCheK\support\receipt.
