TIP # 2: Annihilate this Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista prompt!

Error: "The Publisher could not be verified"

1. Click Start -> Run

2. Type gpedit.msc

3. Click OK

4. Go to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Attachment Manager

5. Add *.exe to the "Inclusion list for moderate risk file types" setting.

6. Windows should no longer ask you if you want to continue when opening .exe files from a local or networked drive. Windows WILL continue ask you if you want to open executable files from the internet. This is for your computer's safety.

Above: The publisher could not be verified...

TIP # 3: Error running Outlook 2000 on Windows Vista

"An error occured while attempting to open the Windows Address Book. Unable to find the WAB DLL."

1. Click Start -> Search -> For Files or Folders...
2. Type wab*.* in the search field and click Search Now.
3. Look for wab32.dll and wab32res.dll and copy them into C:\Windows\system32.

Microsoft Outlook 2000 should no longer throw the error when attempting to access your address book on Vista.

TIP # 4: Outlook running very slowly

"Taking forever to load on startup"

1. Double click My computer > C: > Documents and Settings > Your username > Application Data > Microsoft > Outlook.
2. Locate a file named outcmd.dat, then right click on it and delete it. (another file that can be deleted is the Outlook.srs file)
3. At times this file may become corrupt and Outlook will begin to take longer and longer to load. Deleting this file will not disable Outlook. The file will be recreated the next time you open Outlook. The average size of the file should be less than 100Kb.

Microsoft Outlook 2000 should no longer throw the error when attempting to access your address book on Vista.

Turn off the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer option, and click Ok.

Windows XP - solution 2:

If you have one user account and no password configured, Windows XP will log you in automatically. Otherwise, you'll have to do the following:

Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI.
Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
Expand the Logon branch, and click Autologon.
Turn on the Log on automatically at system startup option, type your username and password, and click Ok.

TIP # 9: You might not have permission to use this network resource.....

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then double-click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
3. In the right pane, double-click restrictanonymous.
4. Make sure that the value in the Value data box is set to 0, and then click OK.
5. Close Registry Editor.
6. Restart the computer.

Possibly option two....
I located the subkey in Regedit, and I found the value of 'restrictanonymous' was 0, then I modified the value of another subkey im same location named 'limitblankpassworduse' and set it to 1, then I could access to this computer

TIP # 10: Disable System Beep in Windows.....

1. Turn Off the Annoying Windows XP System Beeps When you spend a lot of time in front of your computer, the annoying beeps start to drive you mad after a while. I really don’t need to be told that I hit the wrong key anymore, so I’ve compiled a list of how to turn off all the system beeps in Windows XP.

One of the most irritating beeps happens when you use the Volume control… but there are other beeps, such as on error dialogs or when you hit the wrong key.

Disable Beep in Device Manager

Open up Device Manager by right-clicking on Computer and choosing Properties, then on the Hardware tab you’ll find the button for Device Manager.

Select View \ Show hidden devices from the menu.

Find Non-Plug and Play Drivers in the list, and then right-click on “Beep” and disable it:

When it prompts you to reboot, select no, and then right-click again and choose Properties this time. On the Driver tab, change the Startup type to “Disabled” and then click the “Stop” button if you are able to.

This should disable the system beep speaker, but it probably won’t change the volume control beep, so continue on.

Disabling Beep in Registry

Open up regedit.exe through the run box, and then navigate down to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound

Find the “Beep” key on the right-hand side and change the value to “no”.

Disable Beep in Sounds Panel

Open up Control Panel and find the Sounds and Audio Devices panel, choose the Sounds tab and then find “Default Beep” in the list.

Change the sound drop-down on the bottom to “None” and then click Apply. This should disable the volume control beep.

You’ll want to also change Critical Stop to “None” as well, and should probably also turn off some of the other items.

You can also use TweakUI to get rid of some of the beeps, but if you follow the items on this page you shouldn’t need that.

TIP # 11: The menu bar and tabs may not be visible in Task Manager.

1. This behavior may occur if Task Manager is running in Tiny Footprint mode. If you double-click the empty space in the border around the tabs, Task Manager switches to this mode.

TIP # 12: How to export Outlook emails to a text file.

1. To export Outlook messages to a text file:

1.From within Outlook, from the list of messages in the right pane, select the message you want to export. To select more than one message, press the Ctrl key (Command in Mac OS X) while you click each message; to select all messages, from the Edit menu, choose Select All.
Note: When selecting multiple messages, you can only save as a text file (.txt). When selecting single messages, you have more file type options; some of these may require opening the message in an email client.

2.In Outlook 2010, click File, and in the upper left of the new window, click Save As... .
In earlier versions, from the File menu, select Save As... .

3.A dialog box will open. Use it to navigate to the folder on the hard drive where you would like to store the messages.

4.Type a name for the file. Click Save

TIP # 13: How to turn off notification sound in Outlook.

1.On the Tools menu, click Options.
2.On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail Options.
3.Under When new items arrive in my Inbox, select or clear the Play a sound check box.
