Billing:

How many hours a month are you spending on billing? These are usually hours that would be better spent actually running your club either by training employees, talking to customers, conducting sales followups, conducting personal training... The list is endless. Coral Springs Software is announcing an optional billing service. For $199 per month, let us handle this task for you. By using CrossLoop screen-sharing technology, it's almost like we have one of our experts sitting at your computer and using your actual data to make sure that this extremely important task is handled correctly. Think about it. If by freeing up you or your employee's time to conduct just one or two more personal training sessions per month for example, the service has more than paid for itself. The biggest advantage to allowing us to handle your billing is you might find unbilled money in your system. This happened recently with a QuikCheK customer. They had several thousand dollars worth of unbilled transactions that had been sittling in their billing grid for months (see tip below).

Private Webinars:

Thank you for attending our Webinars. We hope the information is helpful and you are learning new QuikCheK features or new ways to make your time on the computer more efficient. The weekly Webinars are a way for you to keep in touch with changes, updates and new features of your software.

In an effort to make these sessions even more effective, private Webinars are available to you and your staff with a service agreement at the rate for $75 per hour of class time. Your staff can log in from different computers and view private Webinars on the topics you choose. With a private Webinar the instructor will be using your data, your members, and your POS making training much easier and more effective. Private webinars are the quickest way to train new staff and learn advanced features of the software. All on your own schedule. Have computer issues got you down but you don't want to spend a fortune calling in an expert? Maybe you're just getting those annoying error messages or your computers have slowed down considerably but you don't know why. Free help is available online with geekstogo.com. Answers are questioned by volunteer "geeks" or other users. In operation since 2003, the database of already-addressed issues is huge but if your solution is not found there, use the Online Chat feature to get help from their knowledgeable staff.

Just like the Coral Springs Software forum, registration is not required unless you wish to do something other than just browse the existing postings. Everyone should at least check out the special section for Spyware Removal. Did you know that roughly half of all computer problems are Malware related? Even with the most up-to-date virus and spy security software, these insidious programs still manage to sneak their way in.

It's the rare employee who enjoys membership sales. Club Solutions Magazine addresses this issue in the October issue with an article titled "How to Handle Health Club Sales Objections". By training your employees to anticipate objections and listening fully to their potential customer, the chances of a successful sale are increased. Did you know that iHRSA is working on giving doctors the ability to write "exercise prescriptions" so that our healthcare system can be something other than a sickcare system? The problem is that the doctors need to have some knowledge of what health clubs have to offer and which ones would meet his or her standards. The November issue of Club Business International addresses this issue and more.

iHRSA is also working hard to publicize the recently released US Government's 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans from the US Department of Health and Human Services. This is our government's attempt at addressing the inactivity crisis. Visit www.IHRSA.org/PAguidelines.

From the same show, read the article summarizing some of the guest speakers and the topics of the obesity epidemic and running a business during slow economic times. Interesting point - it is 5-7 times more expensive to attract new members than to retain your existing members. Next year's show is scheduled for October 14-17 in Chicago. more

Q: In the QuikCheK Forum can I change the order of threads? You have a choice over how you view threads. When you're in a thread, look at the top bar. On the right hand side you'll see 'Display Mode'. Click on this and it lets you change how posts are ordered. Use the mode you're most comfortable with.

Update: Two months ago we wrote about an amazing group of young adults called the Florida Special Needs Color Guard and their desire to perform at the Universal Studio's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Since then a lot has happened and the goal is to now perform in the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC. Contributions are still needed. Contact Bonnie for more information. You can also view a short video that was submitted to NBC as a progress report as well as other videos by going to YouTube.com and use "flsacellen" for searching. Watch the parade and look for this group after the Shrek float and before Santa at the end. They are so excited and have been working very very hard. If you watch the video, look for the cute blonde at the end getting lifted. That's Bonnie's daughter Jessica. She will be a sign bearer in the parade.

Tip: Make sure your Billing Grid is empty after each billing cycle. Anything left in the grid represents unbilled $$$. - John

Tip: There's a neat little free program called CutePDF Writer. If you get tired of printing online invoices or other communication, save some ink and trees and install this program. Instead of printing to your normal printer, choose the PDF Writer from your list of printers and then print directly as a .pdf file and save in any location you want. Hint - use your Desktop for documents you will not need to save for very long so they are easier to delete later. Download this Freeware at http://www.cutepdf.com - Patty

Tip: New staff will benefit from browsing the help menu in QuikCheK. The menu is arranged by screens and answers many "How to?" questions with printable instructions. The help menu is located on the right hand side of the Member screen. Look for the white question mark. - Alex

Coral Springs Software has updated the online Webinar Schedule to include the dates and times and details for upcoming webinars. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it is a way to get a quick lesson on using QuikCheK software. By joining a conference call and following along on your computer screen, it is almost like being in a live classroom. Although you do not have the capability to ask questions via the telephone connection (it is for listening only), you can still type your questions on an interactive text box for the instructor.
