QuikCheK Forum Unveiled

How often have you had something you want to ask of other QuikCheK users but didn't know how? Our website has recently opened up a user forum. From the HealthClubSoftware.net home page, click on Support and near the bottom of the page, click on "Help Forum". Essentially a Forum is a message Board for users sharing something in common whether it be a sports team, family web site, educational institution or a social network such as Facebook or MySpace. In our case, the community is QuikCheK users like yourself.

To post a question, help answer an existing question, post a comment or share an interesting use of QuikCheK, you will need to first register with a user name and password and accept the Terms and Conditions. To just view the posted messages, no registration is required. The forum is divided into topics such as Billing, Reports, etc. and you can search within a particular topic or all topics. So - follow this link and get started or bookmark http://www.healthclubsoftware.net/forum/index.php.

After you have reached the Forum Home page, click on a topic listed in the Forum topic e.g. "Billing", then select the "New Thread" button if you would like to add a message. At this point you will need to go back and register if you have not yet done so. If at any time you want to get back to the forum home page, select the link in the upper left hand corner called "QuikCheK Forums".

After registering, now select "New Thread" and put a meaningful title in the Subject Line such as "I need help with member balances" and post your question/comment/solution in the text box area. Your posting will then get emailed to everyone at Coral Springs Software and to other users who have registered to receive emails. It will also be visible to anyone browsing the messages.

At this point, you will surely receive an answer and possibly even a video demonstration (see QuikTips - Updates and Training below) covering your posting.

The IHRSA 5th Annual "I Lost it at the Club 2009" details are now available. In 2008 a whopping 646 IHRSA clubs participated in the program and lost an astounding 36,564 pounds among 11,128 participants. more

In the same issue, there is a very interesting article on the increase in Group Training vs. Personal Training. Kathie Davis of the IDEA Health and Fitness Association is quoted as saying, “Group training sessions and functional resistance training are on the upswing as are fitness assessments and the continuing adoption of small, portable pieces of equipment,” she says. “Personal trainers realize their clientele have a vast spectrum of requirements, and the survey results show trainers are doing all they can to meet these differing demands while inspiring their clients to make active, healthy lifestyle choices.” more

Q: Why do I have to register first before joining the QuikCheK Forum?
A: Any user's group requires prior registration but in our case we are asking for a minimal amount of information. You create your own user name and provide an email address. You are also free to cancel or change your registration at any time.

Q: I recently had a problem with my Spectrum Fitness Service 24/7 Access System and was unable to reach them by phone. Has something changed?
A: As it is with any purchased system, every supplier must at some time draw the line at giving free support. In this case, Spectrum offers toll free support for 90 days after successful installation of their product. Past that time, tons of information is available for free from the support section of their website http://www.keytagclub.com. You will however need your Product ID which is found at the bottom of your door controller. Contact Sales at 1-888-903-7648 (option 1). They are running a $19/month special with a 12-month minimum for a very limited time (normally $29/month). Another option in your case might be their $125 per incident charge.

Q: What is the best way to train our new employees?
A: This is a great question and one we are often asked to help with. Unfortunately that should not be the purpose of our support staff since we are not familiar with your day-to-day operations and how you want to operate your facility. Monthly support includes help with problems or issues such as error messages, to keep your facility up and running. It does not include training. However, customer's on active support agreements do receive a 50% discount on phone training with a professional and knowledgeable instructor. This is now being expanded to include private webinars as a training tool. In addition, documentation and Help files are included with your application and you should also spend time documenting your own procedures and keeping them updated. Tip: If your computer is old but still faster than 1ghz, we don't recommend upgrading to a new computer as of yet. Spending less than $100 on a memory upgrade is definitely worthwhile, however. Right click My Computer and choose properties you will see how much memory/RAM you have. If you have less than 512mb then you should definitely upgrade to 1gb of RAM, it will make a big difference when it comes to running QC. - John

Tip: Use the Contract Report demographics to help with your marketing strategy for the New Year Sales. From the QuikCheK members screen, choose the Menu item List and then Print Contract Report. Use the filters for Expired or Cancelled members to market to old members. Use the What to Print Tab to see demographics for each city, zip code, age ranges and male or femal members. Coral Springs Software has updated the online Webinar Schedule to include the dates and times and details for upcoming webinars. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it is a way to get a quick lesson on using QuikCheK software. By joining a conference call and following along on your computer screen, it is almost like being in a live classroom. Although you do not have the capability to ask questions via the telephone connection (it is for listening only), you can still type your questions on an interactive text box for the instructor.

IMPORTANT: Set aside one hour on the last Tuesday of each month at 2pm Eastern Time for a series of QuikCheK Pro Billing webinars conducted by QuikCheK trainer Alex. The next is scheduled for October 28, 2008 at 1:30pm.
