New Service - Online Pay Portal

Always trying to make our customer's QuikCheK experience better, we are proud and excited to announce a new service available to all our customers using X-Charge for Credit Card Processing. For only $0.99 per month or $9.99 per year, we have developed a portal for your members to make online credit card payments directly to your club. Charges don't begin until the first X-Charge transaction is processed. No setup fee required!

Via your own user interface, your payment portal is customizable to whatever products or services you want your customer to see. In addition, add your own logo and message text. We recommend adding the banner from your own website or company logo and adding a link for online payments from your own website. It's as simple as that!

Collections are never fun but imagine how much more convenient it will be for past-due customers to make payments online in the anonymity of their own home without having to even walk into the club to make the payment. Some members may be avoiding the dreaded Red screen/Deny Entry message.

With a direct link into X-Charge, the transaction is either approved or not and that feedback is provided to the customer. The club is then notified of the payment as well as receiving daily transaction reports just like your other X-Charge transactions.

Happy New Year

We all make New Year's Resolutions. New Year's celebrations date back to the ancient Babylonians around 2000 BC. At that thime, the New Year started on the day of the first new moon after the Vernal Equinox (spring) which made sense. Spring is a time of rebirth and growing things so why not make resolutions? Of course, the most popular resolutions in those days had nothing to do with losing weight and quitting smoking but rather centered around such mundane promises to return borrowed farm equipment. Needless to say, there wasn't much need for a well-run health club in ancient Babylonia.

You however, have the opportunity in the coming months to capitalize on promises and resolutions. It is well known that most of us start with good intentions and then "fall off the wagon" shortly thereafter. This is not good for long-term business so the savvy club owner and manager should take extra care to ensure that clients are showing results in their weight loss/conditioning. There is no better marketing tool for bringing in new customers than having your successful members brag about their exercise results to their friends and families.

Vendor of the Month - X-Charge

X-Charge for QuikChekIntegrate secure Credit Card processing with QuikCheK Software by using the X-Chage PC-Based application. Make sure you order this through the X-Charge QuikCheK Specialist. Around the Industry.......

American Council on ExerciseThe non-profit group, American Council on Exercise (ACE) released last month their prediction of the the top 10 fitness trends for 2010 based on their annual survey of fitness experts and trainers. Two trends that should not be overlooked involve making use of online training and scheduling tools and the growing collaboration between government and commercial businesses to improve overall health and fight obesity.

The same organization also published the results of their study involving Wii Fit and how it fits into an exercise routine. If potential clients are trying to justify spending $200 on this piece of equipment rather than a club membership, refer them to the article Wii Fit - Of Just a Wee Bit? To summarize, the Wii Fit, though better than being sedentary, was found to be a very mild workout.

Feature Flash - Inventory Control

Though rudimentary, QuikCheK Point of Sale includes an inventory control feature that you might find useful. When setting up items in POS such as Beverages, snack bars and equipment, go ahead and define re-order quantities, vendor information and actual inventory on hand. Then add into your business processes the inventory control reports in QuikCheK. Just make sure that your on hand unit of measure matches your re-order unit of measure e.g. you probably don't buy individual bottles of water but rather cases so your unit of measure is either one bottle or one case. Just be sure to be consistent.

QuiK Tips - Updates - Training

Tip: If you are running a lot of reports and printing them you might want to consider downloading and installing a PDF add-in software on your PC in order to save on ink and paper. The one I like to use and have done so for a couple of years now, is called CutePDF Writer. The free version is available at http://www.cutepdf.com. Once installed, in the report viewer change the printer setup (the little icon at the top next to the printer icon) to simply print to the CutePDF writer rather than your paper printer and save your new .pdf file into an appropriately named reports folder which is backed up regularly. You can also print or view that report on an as-needed basis in the Adobe Reader. Patty

Tip: If you are opening a new club, please take some time to plan on how to implement your club management software. Ideally, enter a few test members to make sure your new member forms are collecting the correct information. - Mike
