Requirements:
-Computer must have 1 free USB port
-Door device must be a 12 volt DC electric strike

Recommendations:
-Customer should use a local locksmith for purchase and installation of door
-Hardware - electric strike is not included in this package
-Customer may opt to hire a local PC technician to assist with system integration
-Computer should be a stable machine, with no viruses - and all notifications
and popups disabled.
-Screen saver should be disabled, and power scheme should be set to ‘always
on’.
-Customer should purchase a battery backup large enough to run the system in
the event of a power outage of short duration.

Technical Notes:
This system uses a serial port for communication to the door controller. Many computers either have this port, but another device is currently using it, or they do not have this port at all. We provide a device which converts a USB port into a serial port, but this device is not compatible with every system. If this device is not compatible, the customer may have to have a local PC tech install an additional serial port on the computer.
The barcode reader we send you depends on what type of keyboard you currently have. We try to use the same style barcode reader as your keyboard. This is typically referred to as a PS/2 style interface, but some computers may be using a USB style keyboard. This information will need to be determined before the access system ships out.
If the cable length needed between your door and your computer is more than 25’, additional charges may apply depending on what solution needs to be used to accommodate the greater distance.
Our stock door controllers will control a 12 volt DC electric strike, and we advise that you use this type of device if possible. Our door controllers can also control turnstiles, 24 volt applications, AC power applications, and Maglocks – however additional charges may apply.
